Duncan McConchie tells us about the work Sleeping Giants did with the Scottish Wedding Industry Alliance when the SWIA was looking for help to decide on its next steps post-Covid. We consulted with members as well as the leadership group to put together a strategic plan, delivery plan and a management and governance improvement plan.
Duncan McConchie, Chair Scottish Wedding Industry Alliance "Our organisation has been through a period of significant change and improvement in recent years. Embarking on the process of developing our five-year strategic plan it was so important to us to work with people who understood our grassroots ethos and who “got” our values, which are underpinned by feminism, equality, and human rights. Sleeping Giants absolutely fit this profile and have been a pleasure to work with throughout the entire planning process. The skills and knowledge distilled within their small team have allowed us to not only develop our plan but to strengthen our organisation’s leadership, governance, and quality. Every step of the way we were encouraged to reflect on how far we’ve come and to believe in ourselves into the future. Grace brings a real human touch, warm sense of humour and empathy to what can often be a very dry process; all the time maintaining an excellent level of professionalism. We were at times challenged to have difficult conversations about what might not be working, but in the most supportive and nurturing way, as a result our organisation is all the stronger for it. A very positive experience and one we’d be happy to recommend."
